The TCMAC is an official body set up by the London Borough of Wandsworth to advise it on its care of two commons: Tooting Bec Common and Tooting Graveney Common.
TCMAC is an annually elected body of 24 representing nearby residents together with local societies, groups and clubs. Everybody is welcome to our meetings
We are the official voice representing users of the Tooting Commons to help ensure that they are suitably cared for and protected.
The focus of our efforts is to:
- achieve a balance between recreation on the Commons and the protection and development of plant and animal life
- retain and enhance the Commons’ natural character
- promote public interest and participation in the protection and appreciation of the Commons
- raise awareness of the Commons and the work of TCMAC
This is what Commons users found to be the most important subjects on which the MAC should focus according to our 2021 survey
The Tooting Commons Management Plan
In 2015 Wandsworth Council published their Tooting Commons Management and Maintenance Plan 2015. This provides a lot of information about the Commons and the principles and procedures by which they are managed. Please note that this is a large file and so may take some time to load.
Part of our role is to ensure that Wandsworth Council and their contractors keep to these plans. More generally we advise the Council on the organisation of events on the Commons and on strategies, plans, developments and actions that affect the Commons from planning and cycling issues to traffic calming and nature conservation.
In all of this our aim is to preserve and protect the Commons whilst recognising the opportunities to upgrade the facilities to suit the needs of local residents.
